Saudi Arabia Launches New Digital Service for International Umrah Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia has launched a new digital platform, Nusuk Umrah, designed to make visa applications and travel bookings easier for international Umrah pilgrims, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah said the service enables overseas pilgrims to apply directly for Umrah visas and arrange services online without relying on middlemen. Through the platform, users can customize their trips by booking complete packages or individual services such as visas, accommodation, transport, and guided tours.

Available in seven languages, the platform is linked with government systems, offers multiple payment options, and aims to improve efficiency while enriching the spiritual journey of visitors. Officials said the initiative is part of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s long term plan to position itself as a global religious and cultural hub while expanding its economy beyond oil.

The launch follows recent measures to ease pilgrimage access. In July, the kingdom announced that citizens and residents of Gulf Co-operation Council states including the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar can perform Umrah year-round, provided they obtain permits through the Nusuk app. Gulf residents can also use Umrah visas, transit visas via Saudia Airlines and Flynas, or tourist visas from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This step comes shortly after the resumption of international Umrah visa issuance, which began once this year’s Hajj concluded.

Unlike Hajj, which is performed during specific Islamic calendar days, Umrah can be performed at any time of the year. Though shorter and less complex, it carries deep spiritual value for Muslims across the world.
