‎The Punjab Drug Control Authority has declared several medicines, including cough syrups, as substandard and imposed an immediate ban on them.

‎The Punjab Drug Control Authority has marked multiple batches of commonly used medicines, especially cough syrups, as failing to meet quality standards and has immediately prohibited their sale.

‎The authority has instructed citizens, shopkeepers, and hospitals to return these dangerous products without delay.

‎In the official alert issued by the authority, the names and batch numbers of these medicines have been released. Among them, the most dangerous is Ericof Cough Syrup, which was found to contain excessive levels of diethylene glycol, a toxic chemical that is extremely harmful to human health. Immediate recall of this syrup has been ordered.

‎Other medicines facing the ban include Loratadine 10 mg tablets, Safe Med 100 mg, and various ointments. Authorities have warned that anyone possessing these batches must return them without delay.

‎Meanwhile, hospitals are witnessing a rapid increase in patients suffering from flu, cough, dengue, and malaria, which has heightened concern for public health.

‎Health experts have advised citizens to take immediate precautionary measures, including avoiding handshakes, maintaining social distance, using masks, and boosting immunity through a balanced diet.
