KARACHI: Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon informed an Asian Development Bank (ADB) delegation on Friday that the Red Line BRT project is moving ahead with renewed speed, as the provincial government pushes to make it a model public sector transport initiative.

During a meeting at his office, Memon welcomed the visiting delegation and shared a detailed update on the project’s ongoing construction, technical phases, and operational planning. He said the government is “working day and night” to accelerate progress so the long-awaited corridor can benefit Karachi’s commuters as soon as possible.

The minister emphasized that project offices remain open 24 hours a day, allowing round-the-clock supervision. He explained that several practical decisions have helped remove long standing obstacles, enabling construction activities to pick up pace.

Calling Karachi a vast and complicated megacity, Memon acknowledged that shifting major utilities for the BRT route had been one of the toughest tasks. However, he noted that most technical challenges have now been resolved, while the remaining issues are being handled through a coordinated, step-by-step strategy.

The ADB delegation expressed satisfaction with the overall pace of work and appreciated the administrative focus being applied to the project.
