FAISALABAD — A suspect in multiple child abuse cases, identified as Riaz alias Raju, has been re-apprehended by police immediately after escaping custody during an armed confrontation in the vicinity of Balochani Police Station, Faisalabad. His accomplices, who facilitated the escape, managed to evade capture.
According to official sources, Assistant Sub-Inspector Javed Anwar, accompanied by personnel, was transporting the detained suspect, Riaz alias Raju, for the recovery of weapons. As the police party reached the vicinity of 90-Seem Bridge, four unidentified armed suspects riding two motorcycles opened fire on the police party and forcibly rescued the detainee.
Upon receiving the information, the SHO of Balochani Police Station, along with a heavy police contingent, immediately arrived at the scene. An exchange of fire ensued as the suspects engaged the police. The police party responded with retaliatory fire in self-defense.
When the firing ceased, a search of the area revealed the suspect, Riaz alias Raju, lying injured. Authorities confirmed the suspect was wounded by the firing of his own accomplices. The associated suspects utilized the cover of darkness to flee the scene. The injured suspect was immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
City-wide roadblocks have been established, and a search operation has been initiated for the arrest of the absconding accomplices.
Riaz alias Raju is a recorded offender, facing multiple cases of sexually abusing children (both boys and girls) at gunpoint, using intimidation within the jurisdiction of Balochani Police Station. He is reportedly involved in five such cases.
