A modern vascular hybrid suite has been established in Karachi to save the legs of diabetes patients from amputation.
In Karachi, a state of the art vascular hybrid suite has been set up at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma to prevent amputations among patients suffering from diabetes and ulcers.
According to details, this is the first of its kind modern vascular hybrid suite in Pakistan. The vascular hybrid suite at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma was inaugurated by Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho said that this achievement is the result of the tireless efforts of expert doctors and that modern surgery will provide patients with better and timely treatment facilities.
She said that a significant reduction in limb amputations among diabetes and ulcer patients is expected. On this occasion, the Sindh Health Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the neurosurgery department and instructed Dr. Saber to immediately improve the department and ensure that it remains operational 24 hours a day.
She also expressed concern over the increasing cases of dog bites in Karachi and said that reducing the number of stray dogs is the responsibility of local government. She further said that keeping in view the growing population of Karachi, two more modern trauma centers will be established in the city to provide better medical facilities to the public.
According to Dr. Saber Memon, the V Tech hybrid vascular suite is a revolutionary step in vascular surgery, particularly for the treatment of trauma, diabetic foot, arterial diseases and severe risks to other organs.
