Mumbai: The promotions for Cocktail 2 have picked up a cheeky little subplot of their own, with Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna trading playful jabs online after the film’s song rollout turned into a mock “rivalry” between their tracks.
The fun began after the makers promoted two songs from the upcoming romantic drama — “Mashooqa,” featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, and “Tujhko,” featuring Shahid with Rashmika Mandanna. During the film’s recent musical showcase in Mumbai, both songs were introduced as part of the soundtrack, giving fans an early taste of the Shahid-Kriti-Rashmika dynamic that the film is expected to build on.
Things got more interesting when “Mashooqa” appeared to win the first-release race after a fan/media-style vote. Rashmika, clearly playing along, jokingly called the result “rigged” and backed her own track “Tujhko.” Kriti responded with equal mischief, reportedly taking a “ripe mangoes, not sour grapes” dig — the sort of harmless star banter Bollywood promotions love, and fans usually eat up.
The exchange didn’t feel bitter. Not even close. Rashmika later shared a glimpse linked to “Tujhko” with an “Oops” tone, keeping the joke alive rather than cooling it down. What could’ve been a routine song launch quickly became a small social-media moment: two leading ladies pretending to spar, while the film gets exactly what it wants — chatter, memes, and curiosity around both songs.
At the launch event, Kriti and Rashmika were already in a teasing mood. According to reports from the event, Kriti jokingly welcomed everyone to “my song launch,” only for Rashmika to jump in with, “You mean my song launch?” Shahid Kapoor, who appears in both tracks, had the easiest punchline of the night, saying he wasn’t worried whose song it was because he was in both.
The friendly chemistry between the two actresses also helped shut down the usual “catfight” speculation that tends to follow multi-heroine films. Rashmika openly praised Kriti at the event, even drawing laughs after she got a little too enthusiastic while complimenting her co-star’s look. NDTV reported that Rashmika called Kriti “hot” and accidentally used an expletive while doing so, a moment that quickly went viral but was clearly taken in good humour.
