Patients’ lives have allegedly been put at risk at Sargodha Teaching Hospital.
A ward boy was reportedly performing surgical procedures at the hospital, and a video of the incident has surfaced showing an untrained employee stitching a patient.
According to hospital sources, a ward attendant continued performing procedures in place of a surgeon. The administration of Dr. Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital stated that the employee acted on the instructions of the surgeon in charge and only assisted with the patient’s dressing and transfer to the ward.
Meanwhile, the inquiry report of Dr. Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital, Sargodha, has raised new questions. On one hand, it claims that the allegations were not proven, while on the other hand it recommends disciplinary action under PEDA against the ward servant. The report also raises the question of who took the photographs inside the operation theatre.
According to the report, the ward servant was only performing dressing procedures. However, senior doctors have been issued warnings for negligence in supervision, and action has also been recommended against the ward servant.
