Pir, who recently welcomed his first child with his wife, Dr. Azeemah Nakhoda, highlighted how people relentlessly cycle through negative commentary regardless of a child’s age—transitioning seamlessly from “your life is finished now” to warnings about running around after a 10-year-old, or crying when they leave for college at 20.
The comedian also strongly pushed back against the common societal pressure to abandon household pets after a baby arrives. “Pets are not placeholders that you get rid of once you have kids,” Pir stressed, pointing out that scientific studies show children raised alongside animals actually develop fewer allergies and grow up to be more compassionate.
