A 22-year-old man was shot and killed in Liaquatabad late Tuesday night after refusing to hand over his belongings to armed robbers. The incident, which occurred in a densely populated neighborhood, has reignited long-standing public anger over the city’s deteriorating security situation.

Witnesses told police the victim was intercepted by two men on a motorcycle near a local market. When he resisted their attempt to snatch his mobile phone and cash, one of the assailants opened fire at point-blank range. The suspects fled the scene immediately, leaving the young man bleeding on the street.

He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by bystanders, but doctors confirmed he died on the way. The victim’s family arrived at the hospital in a state of shock, demanding that the Sindh government finally address the unchecked violence on Karachi’s streets.

Police officials have registered a case against unidentified suspects, though no arrests have been made. Investigators are currently pulling footage from nearby CCTV cameras, hoping to identify the motorcycle used in the attack.

“We are tracking their escape route,” a local station officer said, though he admitted that the suspects likely melted into the city’s complex alleyways before the first patrol cars arrived.

This killing follows a grim trend. Street crime in Karachi has surged this year, with dozens of citizens losing their lives while protecting their property. For residents, the city’s streets have become a gamble where a simple commute can turn fatal in seconds.

As the family prepares for the funeral, the reality remains unchanged for those living in Liaquatabad: another life lost, another police investigation stalled, and no end in sight to the city’s cycle of violence.
