A high-level meeting on security arrangements for Muharram was chaired by IG Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, at the Central Police Office in Karachi. The meeting was attended by Shia scholars and elders from Larkana and Sukkur Divisions, along with the DPOs of Larkana and Sukkur, and SSPs via video link. In-person participants included the DPOs of Headquarters, Training, and AIGs.

During the meeting, the participants expressed gratitude for the success of Operation Binyan al-Marsous, in which the Pakistan Army delivered a crushing blow to Indian arrogance. The participants prayed for the country’s safety and security.

The attendees also expressed satisfaction with the security measures taken by the police in the relevant districts and divisions, and assured their full cooperation with the police and other law enforcement agencies during security operations.

It was also agreed that volunteers would remain alongside the police during Muharram processions, gatherings, and other events to maintain peace. The delegation assured IG Sindh of their support.

IG Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, stated that in the past, the collaboration between the Shia community and the police during Muharram has been exemplary, and he urged everyone not to fall prey to any provocations. “Let the law do its job,” he said.

He also added, “We have defeated terrorism in the past, and, God willing, we will do it again. The Sindh Police, along with other law enforcement agencies and security forces, is working day and night to ensure security.”

IG Sindh further stressed the importance of being extra cautious in light of the global situation and urged citizens to contact the police in case of any suspicious activity. He also cautioned against elements attempting to create divisions and disrupt peace.

In his closing remarks, IG Sindh appealed to scholars, Zakirs, and all members of society to play their individual and collective roles in ensuring that Muharram 2025 remains peaceful and safe.
