‎A recent study by the University of Lancashire in the United Kingdom has revealed that regular physical activity can significantly reduce symptoms of depression.

‎The research states that exercise can prove to be an easy, affordable, and effective remedy for getting relief from depression, which is a common but complex mental illness. The study found that regular physical activity can bring a noticeable decrease in depressive symptoms.

‎For the research, data from 73 clinical trials involving 5,000 people suffering from depression was analyzed, most of whom were using antidepressant medications. The results showed that the impact of exercise was found to be as effective as medication and psychotherapy.

‎Experts say that exercise releases chemicals in the brain that enhance feelings of happiness and relaxation, while also improving the functioning of neurotransmitters, which helps reduce the severity of depression. In addition, exercise stimulates elements that support brain development.

‎Researchers state that the type of exercise depends on an individual’s preference. Some people gain the same benefits from yoga as they do from jogging; the important point is to keep the body physically active.

‎It is worth noting that depression is a mental illness that affects not only the brain but the entire body, and in today’s era, people of all ages are falling victim to it. In such circumstances, exercise can serve as a natural and effective support.
