The Ministry of IT and Telecom, in collaboration with the Ignite National Technology Fund, is launching two outdoor Digital Roshni Learning Pods in Islamabad to expand free digital education under the Prime Minister’s Digital Pakistan Vision.
The pods will be set up at F-9 Park and Saidpur Village, providing inclusive access to digital learning in open public spaces. Each unit will feature a large digital screen, stable internet connectivity, seating arrangements, and backup power to ensure uninterrupted learning.
The Urdu-language content is designed to benefit children, youth, women, persons with disabilities, and the transgender community. Training modules cover digital literacy, freelancing, civic awareness, financial education, health and hygiene, and introductory concepts in emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence.
A trained facilitator will operate daily sessions and assist visitors, while the weather-resistant pod structure supports continuous community use. Partnerships with NGOs, civil society, and local influencers will help boost participation.
The 13-month pilot will test a sustainability model involving sponsorships to enable future expansion across more cities if successful.
