Dera Ismail Khan: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi visited the Police Lines in Tank on Wednesday, where he paid tribute to police personnel martyred in a recent terrorist attack and offered condolences to their families.
The Chief Minister laid flowers at the martyrs’ memorial, presented a salute, and prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the fallen officers. He also met local elders and the families of the martyrs and assured them that the provincial government would provide full support to the families of the fallen policemen.
The visit followed a terrorist attack that took place two days earlier in Tank, where a police armored vehicle from Gomal Police Station was targeted. In the attack, six police personnel, including the SHO of Gomal, were martyred.
Expressing heartfelt sympathy, the Chief Minister said the government stands with the families in their time of grief. Addressing local elders and the families, he said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are bravely fighting terrorism on the frontline and steps are being taken to address the challenges faced by the police.
He said that while death is a reality, martyrdom for the country and the nation is the highest honor. He added that the CTD, Special Branch, police, security forces, and the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have made great sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
The Chief Minister said that for the past two decades, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has faced continuous terrorism, and more than 80,000 people have sacrificed their lives for peace in Pakistan and the region.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue supporting the families of martyred police personnel and expressed hope that peace will soon be fully restored in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
