The Sindh government has increased its education budget by 18 per cent in the fiscal year 2025-26 to Rs 613.36 billion as compared to Rs 519 billion. On June 13, the budget was delivered to the Sindh Assembly, and an enormous emphasis was put on digital learning and infrastructure creation.
The budget documents show that Rs 524.32 billion has been allotted to non-development expenses and Rs 89.04 billion has been kept aside as development schemes. To increase access to technology-based education, the province has increased its digital learning program budget by huge margins (Rs 3 billion to Rs 19 billion).
There is also increased funding to different levels of education. Primary education is allocated Rs 156.2 billion (an increase of Rs 136.2 billion), middle education is allocated Rs 42.7 billion (an increase of Rs 36.2 billion) and secondary education is allocated Rs 77.2 billion (an increase of 68.5 billion). College budget increases to Rs 39 billion.
Moreover, 31 public universities in the province will get Rs 40 billion. The government is also intending on giving free textbooks, meeting registration costs, exam costs, and giving incentives to the bright students.
According to the officials, this is an improved investment effort by the province as part of education reform, especially with regard to bringing technology into the classrooms and providing more learning options to the underserved populations.
