Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has stated that currently, there is a need for 2.5 million nurses worldwide, while Pakistan requires between 900,000 to 1.1 million nurses.
During the question hour in the Senate session, responding to Senator Kamran Murtaza, the Health Minister said that the condition of the nursing sector is not satisfactory, as the Nursing Council had issues of corruption and FIA cases.
The Health Minister said that the Nursing Council was digitized and restructured 48 hours ago, as there was no room for reform in the old system. The Ministry of Health had no role in the bylaws of the Nursing Council.
Mustafa Kamal added that through the new Nursing Council, the sector will be developed, and the system is being made transparent by minimizing human involvement. He further said that the human resources sector will also be developed within the country.
