PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education department has suspended 20 officers, including Sub-Divisional Education Officers (SDEOs) and Assistant District Education Officers (ADEOs), for failing to attend a virtual meeting held on Sunday.
According to a notification, the officers were suspended for four months under Rule-6 of the KP Government Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2011, for showing “lack of interest in official business.”
Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Mohammad Khalid said the online Khuli Kutchery was organized to help resolve public complaints related to schools, but several officers’ absence left queries unanswered.
He confirmed that charge sheets and statements of allegations would be issued separately to the suspended officials.
One of the suspended officers told Dawn that power outages in his village disrupted internet access, preventing him from joining the meeting.
