Lahore: The Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) has revealed in its latest report that 20,698 cases of violence against women — including rape, abduction, honour-related crimes, and harassment — were reported across Pakistan between January and June 2025.
According to the data, Punjab recorded the highest number of incidents with 15,376 cases, followed by Sindh with 3,709, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 875, Islamabad with 423, and Balochistan with 315 cases.
The report highlights an alarming conviction rate, noting that the nationwide punishment ratio for such crimes remained below 0.3%. Punjab documented a conviction rate of only 0.01%, Sindh 0.5%, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad reported zero convictions during the period. Balochistan, despite having a comparatively high conviction rate of 19.30%, showed very low reporting numbers.
SSDO emphasized the urgent need to strengthen investigative mechanisms and prosecution processes to ensure effective justice. The report also recommends timely investigations and the provision of a safe and supportive environment for survivors of violence.
