Islamabad — The National Assembly has approved the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill with a two-thirds majority, marking another key step in the government’s ongoing reform process.
According to parliamentary sources, the bill was supported by members from both the treasury and opposition benches after extensive debate. Lawmakers termed the amendment a “milestone” for improving coordination between the federation and provinces and ensuring administrative efficiency.
The amendment, which was earlier passed by the Senate, focuses on restructuring certain administrative and fiscal powers to strengthen provincial autonomy while maintaining federal oversight.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised lawmakers for their “unity in national interest,” calling the approval a sign of democratic maturity. The bill will now be sent to the President for formal assent.
