In China’s Henan province, doctors surgically removed a 2 kilogram hairball from the stomach of a 15 year old girl who had been eating her own hair for the past six years.
According to foreign media, the girl, nicknamed “Ni Ni,” had been suffering from persistent stomach pain and difficulty eating. Upon examination, doctors discovered that a massive ball of hair and food particles had almost completely filled her stomach.
During surgery, it was revealed that her stomach had swollen to twice its normal size. However, after a successful operation, she recovered within five days and resumed normal eating habits.
Experts explained that this condition is called Trichophagia, where patients develop a habit of eating hair or other non-food items. Parents are advised to seek immediate medical attention if a child continues this habit for more than a month.
