The special nationwide polio eradication campaign, conducted from September 1 to 7, has been successfully completed, during which more than 19.7 million children were administered polio drops.

‎According to the spokesperson of the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), the campaign was carried out in specific districts across the country with the aim of preventing the spread of the poliovirus and protecting children from lifelong disability.

‎As per the spokesperson, 4.04 million children were vaccinated in Punjab, 8.727 million in Sindh, 4.025 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2.227 million in Balochistan, 479,000 in Islamabad, 112,000 in Gilgit Baltistan, and 164,000 in Azad Kashmir.

‎The NEOC appreciated the role of parents, local administration, health workers, and other partners in making the anti-polio campaign a success.

‎Officials stated that such campaigns will continue until the complete eradication of polio. They appealed to parents to extend full cooperation in future drives as well and ensure that their children under the age of five receive the polio vaccine, so that Pakistan can be declared a polio free country.
