Doha:Leaders of Arab and Islamic states will warn that Israel’s recent strike on Qatar and other “hostile acts” endanger coexistence and efforts to normalise ties with the region, according to a draft resolution prepared for Monday’s Arab-Islamic summit in Doha.

The emergency summit is being held in solidarity with Qatar following Israel’s September 9 attack, which Hamas says killed five of its members.

The draft resolution, prepared by foreign ministers, states: “The brutal Israeli attack on Qatar and Israel’s continued hostile actions, including genocide, ethnic cleansing, starvation, siege, and expansionist policies, threaten peace and coexistence in the region.”

It further warns that these actions jeopardize “all achievements on the path to normalizing ties with Israel, including current and future agreements.”

Israel has denied genocide accusations, citing its right to self-defense after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack that killed 1,200 people and resulted in the capture of 251 hostages.

Qatar, a key mediator in the Gaza conflict, has condemned Israel’s actions as “state terrorism” and vowed to continue its mediation efforts with Egypt and the United States.

U.S. President Donald Trump also voiced displeasure over the Israeli strike, telling Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani that such an incident “will not happen again on Qatari soil.”

The United Arab Emirates, which normalized ties with Israel in 2020, summoned the Israeli deputy ambassador over the attack, stressing that Qatar’s stability is inseparable from that of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
