Band Bosan is facing severe devastation as flooding in the Chenab River continues to trigger intense land erosion, leaving dozens of homes reduced to rubble and entire settlements submerged.
Residents say the situation has gone from bad to worse in recent days. Families who lost their homes are now clearing debris on their own, with damages running into millions of rupees. Along with houses, fertile agricultural lands and mango orchards have been swallowed by the river, while crops of arvi and taro have been completely wiped out.
Local sources confirmed that Basti Khokhar and Basti Kheera have been erased from the map due to the relentless flooding. Power infrastructure has also suffered, with several electricity poles collapsing into the river.
On the other hand, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that water flow in most rivers is now normal, and levels in flood-hit areas are receding quickly. However, the Sutlej River still carries medium-level flooding at Ganda Singh Wala, while Sulemanki and Islam Headworks are experiencing low-level floods.
Authorities say rescue and relief operations are ongoing in affected areas. The Punjab Chief Minister has directed officials to remain on high alert, while citizens have been urged to contact emergency helplines in case of urgent need.
