Relief efforts in Punjab’s flood-affected areas are gaining momentum as the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) continues to dispatch emergency supplies, including tents, food, and rescue equipment, to help thousands of displaced families.

According to the NDMA spokesperson, 1,000 tents were recently handed over to the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) for distribution among flood victims in Khanewal. In addition, 13 trucks carrying 670 tents were dispatched from Sukkur, while five more trucks loaded with 330 tents were sent from the NDMA warehouse in Islamabad.

So far, the NDMA has supplied 36,000 tents to Punjab alone, aiming to provide immediate shelter to those who lost their homes in the devastating floods.

The relief consignments also include blankets, quilts, mosquito nets, folding beds, water filtration plants, and 17 rescue boats, which are being deployed in hard-hit districts to assist with evacuations and temporary settlement of survivors.

In a recent statement, the NDMA confirmed that a total of 2,270 tonnes of relief goods had been handed over to the PDMA Punjab as part of the ongoing support operation. Authorities further warned of potential urban flooding in parts of Sindh, urging provincial departments to stay on high alert.

The fresh supplies are part of a broader, countrywide operation to mitigate the impact of seasonal flooding, which has displaced thousands and destroyed homes across several districts. Officials said that more aid convoys are being prepared and will be sent to affected regions in the coming days.
