The Sindh Education Department has upgraded 2,000 primary schools across the province to enhance access to education beyond grade five. Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah said the initiative will allow students to continue their studies within their local areas, reducing the need to travel long distances.

According to details, 496 schools were upgraded in Hyderabad division, 406 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 244 in Mirpurkhas, 341 in Sukkur, 490 in Larkana, and 56 in Karachi.

The move is part of a broader plan to establish 10,000 upgraded primary and elementary schools in phases. In the first stage, 2,000 schools have been elevated, with more to follow. Headmasters have also been granted financial authority to directly manage funds, aiming to resolve daily school management issues more effectively.
