India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bowl first in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash against Pakistan on Sunday.
Yadav explained his decision by pointing to the conditions, noting that dew in the second innings could make batting easier under lights. “The pitch looks good, but chasing here has been an advantage. Hopefully, our bowlers can use the early movement,” he said after the toss.
Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha admitted he too would have preferred to bowl first but remained optimistic about his side’s chances. “We also wanted to field, but now it’s about putting runs on the board. If we bat smartly in the first 10 overs, we can post a strong total,” he remarked.
India made one change to their lineup, adding an extra fast bowler to exploit the surface, while Pakistan named an unchanged XI from their previous win.
With both sides chasing a spot in the Asia Cup final, the game carries high stakes, as well as the intensity that always surrounds an India-Pakistan showdown.
