KARACHI – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Unit carried out a major operation at Karachi Airport, arresting a suspect allegedly involved in sending Pakistani citizens to Europe through illegal sea routes.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the accused, Shahid Imran, was taken into custody upon his arrival at Karachi Airport. He had reportedly arrived from Morocco on an emergency passport.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had been illegally residing in Morocco and was involved in human smuggling, facilitating the illegal travel of multiple Pakistani nationals to the country through unauthorized means.
After initial interrogation, the FIA Immigration Karachi handed the suspect over to the FIA Gujranwala Zone for further investigation.
The FIA spokesperson added that further inquiries are underway to identify other individuals connected to the network.
