In a shocking incident, sports equipment worth around Rs2.2 million, designated for the 35th National Games, was stolen from the Kashmir Sports Complex located within the Jamshed Quarters police limits.
According to police officials, one suspect identified as Muhammad Wajid has been arrested, and a portion of the stolen goods has been recovered. However, the suspect reportedly sold part of the previously stolen equipment to scrap dealers with the help of his accomplices.
Sindh Olympic Association organizer Ahmed Ali Rajput confirmed that this is not the first time such an incident has occurred — equipment has been stolen twice before from the same venue. Meanwhile, Secretary of Sindh Archery Association Ejaz Ali stated that the total value of the stolen equipment amounts to approximately Rs2.2 million.
SHO Jamshed Quarters Ansar Butt added that investigations are underway and efforts are being made to trace the remaining culprits and recover the rest of the stolen items.
