With the Arrival of Winter, How to Protect Yourself from the Risk of Viral Infections?

As the cold season begins, viral infections such as colds, flu, cough, and respiratory illnesses start spreading rapidly. The risk is particularly high among children, the elderly, and individuals with weak immune systems.

‎During winter, people tend to stay indoors in closed rooms where viruses spread more easily. The dry air also dries out the membranes of the nose and throat, weakening the body’s natural defense system.

Moreover, low temperatures slow down the performance of the immune system.

‎Effective Preventive Measures:

‎1. Stay Warm

‎Avoid exposure to cold air and frequent temperature changes. Wear layered clothing to keep your body warm.

‎2. Eat a Healthy Diet

‎Foods rich in vitamin C and zinc boost immunity. Drink plenty of water, soups, and herbal teas to stay hydrated.

‎3. Maintain Hygiene

‎Wash hands frequently or use sanitizer. Cover your mouth while sneezing or coughing, and dispose of used tissues immediately.

‎4. Use Masks and Maintain Distance

‎Avoid close contact with people who have a cold or cough. Wearing a mask in crowded places is beneficial.

‎5. Keep Indoor Environment Healthy

‎Ensure proper ventilation by opening windows for a short time each day. When using heaters, keep a bowl of water in the room to maintain humidity.

‎6. Get the Flu Vaccine

‎Getting an annual influenza vaccine is one of the best precautions, especially for children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
