The iconic 1981 film Umrao Jaan, directed by Muzaffar Ali and starring the legendary Rekha, is set to be screened at the upcoming Red Sea International Film Festival. The festival will pay tribute to the timeless cinematic masterpiece that continues to captivate audiences more than four decades after its release.

Umrao Jaan, based on Mirza Hadi Ruswa’s Urdu novel, remains a landmark in Indian cinema for its poetic storytelling, breathtaking music, and Rekha’s unforgettable portrayal of the courtesan-poet. The film’s restoration and screening mark a celebration of classic cinema and its enduring influence on generations of filmmakers and viewers alike.

Rekha’s mesmerizing performance and Khayyam’s soulful compositions are expected to once again transport audiences into the enchanting world of Lucknow’s tehzeeb, poetry, and emotion at the prestigious international event.
