United Nations Special Envoy for Road Safety Jean Todt met with Federal Education Minister and MQM Chairman Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui to discuss promoting road safety awareness among students and enhancing cooperation with the UN.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on educating children about road safety, developing future initiatives, and collaborative programs between Pakistan and the United Nations.

Dr. Siddiqui said that road safety is vital for students’ welfare and a secure future, adding that the government is committed to creating responsible citizens through education.

He noted that road safety education has been added to the national curriculum, with primary students learning about traffic signals and safe road crossing.

The minister highlighted that awareness campaigns are underway in collaboration with the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and Motorway Police, while teacher training and student competitions are promoting safer behavior.

He also mentioned that special education institutions are actively participating in road safety activities.

Dr. Siddiqui reaffirmed that the Ministry of Education is working closely with the United Nations to reduce accidents and ensure a safer future for all.
