Emraan Hashmi Promises a Musical Comeback with Awarapan 2: “We’re Going to Have Some Really Banger Tracks On It”

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi says he’s ready to bring melody and soul back to Hindi cinema — and he’s betting big on his upcoming film Awarapan 2 to do just that.

In a recent interview, Emraan confirmed that the sequel to his 2007 hit Awarapan will feature “some really banger tracks,” teasing a music-driven comeback reminiscent of the era that first made him a household name.

“Awarapan is coming back, and we are going to have some really banger tracks on it,” Emraan said in a conversation with OTTplay. “People often say melody won’t work anymore because the data says so. But you can’t create music based on analytics — it’s about the feeling a song leaves you with.”

A Musical Revival in the Making

If anyone understands the power of a great Bollywood soundtrack, it’s Emraan Hashmi. From Jhalak Dikhla Ja and Woh Lamhe to Tum Mile and Awarapan itself, his filmography is almost a playlist of early-2000s hits.

And now, nearly two decades later, the actor believes the time is right to restore that emotional, melodic essence to Hindi film music — something he feels has been missing in today’s “data-driven” industry.

“We’ve started treating music like a numbers game,” he said. “Back then, it wasn’t about trends or algorithms — it was about what touched people.”

A Nostalgic Yet New Awarapan 2

Directed once again by Mohit Suri, Awarapan 2 is reportedly set for an April 3, 2026 release. The film will see Emraan reprise his iconic brooding persona from the original — a mix of pain, love, and redemption — but with a refreshed emotional depth and a stronger musical backbone.

While plot details are under wraps, industry insiders say the sequel aims to blend nostalgia with a contemporary sensibility. The focus, however, is clear: music will be at the heart of the storytelling.

Sources close to the production hint that the film’s soundtrack might reunite some of the music talents behind the original Bhatt-camp era — the same soundscape that once defined Emraan’s career and made him Bollywood’s “serial kisser with soulful songs.”

Why This Matters

Emraan’s comments come at a time when many fans and critics have voiced similar concerns — that Bollywood’s music scene has lost its emotional touch. With streaming platforms and TikTok-style trends dominating the space, songs often go viral for their beats rather than their melodies.

So, when Emraan says Awarapan 2 will “revive Bollywood music,” he’s tapping into a deep nostalgia for an era when songs weren’t just chart numbers — they were heartbreak companions, road-trip anthems, and emotional memories rolled into one.

If the actor manages to deliver on his promise, Awarapan 2 might just spark a return to that golden age — and maybe remind us why Bollywood music once had the power to make us feel, not just dance.
