Muhammad Asif, kidnapped in 1992, finally meets his real family thanks to a social worker’s efforts and unshakable parental hope.

In a heart-wrenching yet joyful reunion aired on Geo News’ program Jirga, a man kidnapped as a toddler in 1992 was finally reunited with his biological parents after 32 years. Muhammad Asif, originally named Muhammad Siddiq, shared the emotional moment on television with host Saleem Safi, bringing many viewers to tears.

Asif, who was abducted near Bari Imam at the age of two, said, “I had only one wish in life to meet my real parents.”

The emotional reunion was made possible by social worker Waliullah Maroof, who regularly posts videos of missing persons in hopes of reconnecting lost families. “In many cases, such videos lead to miraculous reunions,” he said.

Saleem Safi opened the program by stating, “This is a proud moment for us. A child taken 32 years ago has found his parents right here, in our office.”

A Painful Past, A Miraculous Reunion

Asif shared that he was taken by a woman who lived with her mother and three brothers. He was relocated to Jhanoria, a village near Sargodha, where another abducted boy who became like an elder brother to him first revealed they had been kidnapped.

Over time, villagers began to notice the boys didn’t resemble their supposed family. Rumors of abduction spread, prompting the family to leave the village. Eventually, Asif ran away and ended up in the care of a kind-hearted lawyer who raised him and supported his schooling.

Though he never pursued higher education, Asif became an electrician, got married in 2017, and bought his own home.

His journey back to his parents began when he confided in a man at a goldsmith’s shop, who then connected him with Waliullah Maroof. “He asked for details and helped track down my real family,” said Asif.

His parents had never given up not even for a single day. “We prayed every night. We believed he was alive,” said his father during the show.

Now known as Muhammad Asif, the 34-year-old says this reunion marks the start of a new chapter not only for him but for countless others hoping for similar miracles.
