Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan has finally responded to the wave of criticism surrounding his selection as a judge on the revived season of Pakistan Idol.
The show, returning after ten years, has already sparked debate online — particularly over its judging panel, which includes Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Zeb Bangash, Bilal Maqsood, and Fawad Khan.
Many social media users questioned Fawad and Bilal’s inclusion, arguing that younger audiences are unfamiliar with their musical backgrounds. Veteran singer Humaira Arshad also took aim at Fawad, suggesting his acting fame overshadowed his music credentials.
For context, Bilal Maqsood was part of the legendary pop band Strings, while Fawad Khan began his career as the lead vocalist of the rock band Entity Paradigm (EP) before transitioning into acting.
When asked about singing during the music launch of his upcoming film Neelofar in Lahore, Fawad responded with humor: “No, I haven’t sung any song,” adding with a laugh, “Pakistan doesn’t let me sing.”
His lighthearted comment has since gone viral, with fans applauding his wit and others reigniting the debate over whether acting icons should judge music competitions.
