Dengue Death in Sindh Reaches 21 This Year

The death from dengue in Sindh has reached 21 this year, while the total number of dengue cases in the province has climbed to 9,638, out of which 4,540 cases belong to Karachi.

‎According to the data released by the Sindh Health Department, 21 people have lost their lives due to dengue across the province so far this year, with nine deaths reported from Karachi.

‎The report stated that in the month of October alone, 13 people died from dengue across Sindh. Three deaths were reported from Karachi’s Malir district, two each from East and West districts, and one from Korangi district.

‎In the same month, four deaths were reported in Hyderabad and one in Tando Muhammad Khan. During the first five days of November, dengue fever also proved fatal for eight people, six of whom were from Hyderabad, while one death each was reported from Tando Allahyar and Karachi.

‎In the last 24 hours, a total of 5,511 dengue tests were conducted across Sindh, out of which 1,130 were positive. With these new cases, the total number of dengue patients in the province has reached 9,638 this year.

‎In Karachi Division, 3,937 tests were carried out, confirming 527 positive cases. With these, the total number of dengue cases in Karachi has reached 4,540. In Hyderabad Division, 1,574 tests were conducted, out of which 603 were positive.

‎Sindh Health Secretary Rehan Baloch said that in the past 24 hours, 129 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals and 126 to private hospitals. Meanwhile, 96 patients were discharged from government hospitals and 111 from private hospitals after recovery.

‎One dengue related death was reported across the province in the last 24 hours. Currently, 251 dengue patients are admitted to government hospitals, while 264 are admitted to private hospitals across Sindh.

‎In Karachi, 256 beds have been allocated for dengue patients in government hospitals, 165 in Hyderabad, and 558 in interior Sindh, bringing the total number of beds in government hospitals to 979. In private hospitals, 185 beds have been allocated in Karachi, 208 in Hyderabad, and 66 in interior Sindh, making a total of 459 beds across the province for dengue patients.

‎At present, data is being collected from 54 laboratories across Sindh. In Karachi, 37 laboratories are conducting dengue testing, including 12 government and 25 private labs. In Hyderabad, 17 laboratories are active for dengue testing, including 7 government and 10 private labs.

‎The total number of people affected by dengue in Sindh this year stands at 9,638.
