Several private schools across Punjab have violated the government’s ban on outdoor activities amid worsening smog, continuing to take students on recreational trips to public venues such as Joyland, Jallo Park, Safari Park, and the Lahore Zoo.
Authorities have warned that such violations pose serious health risks to students, especially respiratory issues caused by prolonged exposure to hazardous air quality.
Despite clear government directives, many schools reportedly organized these outings without obtaining prior permission from the District Education Authority (DEA), as required under provincial regulations.
The Lahore Education Authority has reaffirmed that a complete ban on outdoor activities remains in place across all educational institutions until further notice. Officials have cautioned that strict disciplinary action will be taken against schools found defying the orders.
The provincial government initially imposed the restrictions to protect students from the adverse health effects of severe smog conditions affecting much of Punjab.
