The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) education in all public schools, marking a major step toward modernizing the province’s education system.

The decision was finalized in a high-level meeting of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, who emphasized the importance of digital skills for students in the 21st century.

Under the new plan, the National Artificial Intelligence Course will be taught in all government schools from Grade 6 onward, making KP the first province to implement AI education at the school level.

The Education Department has been directed to ensure qualified teachers, learning resources, and necessary infrastructure for smooth implementation.

Officials stated that introducing AI into the curriculum will help students develop innovation, coding, and data literacy skills, preparing them for careers in an increasingly digital global economy.

“Artificial Intelligence education will enable our youth to compete globally and meet the demands of emerging industries,” said Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

The provincial government described the initiative as a “revolutionary step” that will transform classroom learning and empower students with advanced technological and problem-solving abilities.

Education experts hailed the decision as a pioneering move, saying it positions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a leader in technology-driven education among Pakistan’s provinces.

Through this initiative, the KP government aims to bridge the digital divide and build a strong foundation for students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
