India Quietly Removes Pakistani Dramas From Netflix and Other Platforms

India has quietly instructed major OTT platforms, including Netflix, to pull Pakistani content from their libraries, leading to the sudden disappearance of several popular dramas and shows.

Industry insiders confirm that streaming services were asked to remove all Pakistan-origin films and series, citing regulatory and security-related considerations. Following the directive, Netflix and other platforms began restricting access to titles that had previously been available to Indian viewers.

The move was first noticed when subscribers observed that well-known Pakistani dramas had vanished from Netflix’s search results. Social media users expressed frustration over the change, calling it a setback for cultural appreciation and regional storytelling.

Officials have not issued any public statement, and streaming companies have avoided commenting on the matter. However, executives familiar with the development say the instruction applies across the board and allows no exceptions.

It remains unclear whether the restriction is temporary or permanent, but entertainment analysts believe the decision could further limit cross-border artistic exchange at a time when regional viewership for Pakistani content was steadily growing.
