Bollywood legends Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol were honored in London as a life size bronze statue of their iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge characters, Raj and Simran, was unveiled at Leicester Square. The installation marks the first ever Indian film statue added to the popular ‘Scenes in the Square’ trail.
The actors made a surprise appearance at the ceremony, delighting fans who gathered to witness the historic moment. The event quickly went viral as photos and videos flooded social media, with admirers praising the duo’s timeless chemistry and emotional reunion.
The statue celebrates the 30 year legacy of Aditya Chopra’s classic film, which remains one of the most beloved romances in Bollywood history. Kajol arrived in an elegant soft toned saree, while Shah Rukh Khan appeared in a sharp black suit as they posed beside their sculpted likenesses.
SRK later shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, reflecting on DDLJ’s global impact and thanking fans for decades of love. Quoting his iconic dialogue, he wrote, “Bade bade deshon mein aisi chhoti chhoti baatein hoti rehti hain,” expressing joy over seeing Raj and Simran preserved in bronze for future generations.
He also thanked the people of the UK for making the tribute possible and encouraged visitors to experience the magic of DDLJ at Leicester Square.
