ISLAMABAD: In a groundbreaking move, Pakistan has officially approved its first-ever National Blood Transfusion Policy, marking a historic step in the country’s healthcare evolution. The policy introduces the innovative Plasma Fractionation technique, a game-changing development that will allow Pakistan to produce plasma domestically, reducing reliance on international suppliers.

Dr. Dur-e-naz Jamal, Secretary of the Blood Transfusion Authority, celebrated this achievement, saying:

“This policy, with support from SIFC, will ensure the efficient and ethical management of blood and plasma resources.”

The new policy’s focus on plasma fractionation ensures that Pakistan can now meet its blood supply needs while also boosting export potential in the global market for plasma-derived products. This move is part of the country’s broader healthcare reform strategy aimed at improving the sustainability and accessibility of blood transfusion services.
