The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan has taken an important decision regarding sedative and painkiller medicines.
According to information received from DRAP sources, the authority has decided to make the quota allocation of raw materials for sedative and painkiller medicines online. The purpose of making the quota allocation system online is to ensure transparency.
In this regard, the Drug Regulatory Authority has also developed a Controlled Drugs Quota Allocation System. The decision to introduce online controlled drugs raw material quota allocation was made in consultation with stakeholders, and DRAP has issued letters to PPMA, PB, pharmaceutical companies, and ANF in this connection.
Sources said that pharmaceutical companies will be issued the controlled drugs raw material quota for 2026 online. From January 1, hard copy applications for controlled drugs quota will not be accepted, and companies will be required to submit electronic applications for quota allocation.
These applications will be submitted through the e App system, and pharmaceutical companies will be issued controlled drugs quota allocation certificates online. Staff training to operate the controlled drugs quota allocation e App system has also been completed.
