The condition of the public health sector in the country is not satisfactory; however, the Punjab government has taken revolutionary decisions to bring improvement.

‎At the government level, the standard of health and education in the country is not comparable to that of other countries. However, the Punjab government has now taken revolutionary decisions to improve the health system and ensure the timely provision of quality healthcare facilities to the public.

‎A meeting titled “Protection of Every Life in Punjab” was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, during which the progress of health projects was reviewed.

‎Taking notice of public complaints against security companies and guards present in hospitals, Maryam Nawaz decided to install body cameras on hospital security guards, ward boys, nurses, and pharmacy staff. She also ordered complete steam cleaning in every government hospital daily by 9 am.

‎The Chief Minister directed that medicines in hospitals be provided through a foolproof mechanism and said that every patient in Punjab’s hospitals must receive their medicine on time and directly.

‎During the meeting, it was decided to give rewards for best performance, establish an MS pool, and increase salaries solely based on performance. It was also agreed to allow Chinese-made medical equipment to equip government hospitals with modern medical facilities.

‎The Chief Minister of Punjab agreed to assign community health inspectors the responsibility of hospital surveys and issued orders to establish a data analysis center to review the effectiveness of public welfare measures in the health sector.

‎Expressing surprise over patients not receiving medicines in government hospitals, she said that Rs80 billion is being allocated for medicines, yet patients are still not getting them, which is incomprehensible. She added that there will now be no wastage of public money and time, and incompetent and negligent individuals will have to go home.
