High Blood Sugar Harmful for Eyes, But How?

If blood sugar is not kept under control, its effects first begin to appear in the eyes, which can become harmful to vision if not addressed in time.

‎According to medical experts, prolonged high blood sugar levels not only affect the heart, kidneys, and nerves, but the eyes also silently begin to suffer damage.

‎Experts say that in the beginning there may be slight vision weakness or difficulty recognizing objects, but if this condition persists, the delicate blood vessels in the eyes can rupture, which may lead to permanent vision loss.

‎According to research published in the medical journal JMA, patients whose blood sugar remains high for a long period have shown symptoms such as eye swelling and blurred vision, which can later develop into serious problems.

‎Experts say that a balanced diet and improved lifestyle can not only keep blood sugar under control but also help protect the eyes.

‎Health experts also advised that daily physical activity, complete avoidance of smoking and alcohol, and regular eye examinations are extremely important for diabetes patients, as the eyes often silently reveal the true condition of blood sugar.
