Vitamin D is an essential nutrient for human health that plays a fundamental role in maintaining strong bones, supporting the immune system, and preserving overall physical well-being.

‎According to experts, a deficiency of this vitamin can lead to various medical problems that affect both children and adults.

‎Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is mostly produced when the skin is exposed to sunlight. It is also present in certain foods and can be taken in the form of supplements when necessary.

‎This vitamin helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus, which are essential minerals for strong bones and healthy teeth.

‎Experts say that vitamin D obtained from sunlight is a natural and important source for the body, but its deficiency can affect not only bones but also heart health.

‎A new medical study conducted in Australia has revealed genetic evidence showing a link between vitamin D deficiency and diseases related to the arteries of the heart.

‎According to the research, individuals with vitamin D deficiency face a higher risk of heart diseases and high blood pressure.

‎Experts say that the likelihood of cardiovascular diseases in such individuals can be more than twice as high compared to those who have adequate levels of vitamin D in their bodies.

‎Globally, diseases related to the arteries of the heart are among the leading causes of death, therefore experts say that controlling vitamin D deficiency could help reduce the global burden of these diseases.

‎Researchers say that severe deficiency cases are rare, but moderate deficiency is common and its timely prevention may prove beneficial for heart health, especially for people who spend most of their time indoors at homes or offices and have limited exposure to sunlight.

‎Experts say that vitamin D can also be obtained from fish, eggs, and fortified foods, however it is often difficult to achieve the required amount of this vitamin through a regular diet.

‎According to them, sunlight is the easiest and free source of vitamin D, and if sunlight is not available for any reason, taking a daily supplement can be beneficial.
