The ban on the use of mobile phones in government teaching hospitals could not be implemented.
Teaching hospitals failed to enforce the orders issued by the Specialized Healthcare Department. A ban had been imposed on the use of mobile phones in government hospitals.
The use of mobile phones was completely prohibited in operation theatres, ICUs, CCUs, and emergency departments. However, alternative landline phone facilities could not be provided in place of mobile phones.
Medical staff say that the use of mobile phones is unavoidable and cannot be completely stopped, as patient reports are often scanned and discussed with seniors through mobile phones.
