An Art & Craft Exhibition organized by the Department of Architecture and Civil Technology at Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT) Karachi has gained significant attention from academic and artistic circles. . Participants and distinguished guests highly appreciated the students’ work. The exhibition was divided into four categories, with model making and innovative designs standing out in the craft section. The event was inaugurated by AIT Principal Shahid Jameel
. The jury responsibilities were performed by renowned fine artist and design studio instructor Sania Arif, an internationally acclaimed artist who has represented Pakistan in 22 countries, received multiple awards, and whose artwork is featured in China’s National Museum and even at the Winter Olympics. She has been actively contributing to the field of art for the past 19 years.
The chief guest of the event was Chairman of the Governing Body and Chancellor of Sir Syed University, Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan. Convenor Syed Muhammad Mohsin Kazim and Principal Shahid Jameel were also present. At the end of the ceremony, awards and cash prizes were distributed among outstanding students to encourage their efforts. In his speech, Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan expressed great admiration for the students’ creativity, stating that their achievements are a result of hard work and parental support, which will pave the way for a bright future.
He added that such activities provide students with opportunities to gain recognition at national and international levels. Principal Shahid Jameel described the exhibition as a clear reflection of the institution’s academic standards and the creative thinking of its students.
Convenor Syed Muhammad Mohsin Kazim noted a significant increase in admissions to the architecture program this year, highlighting the important role of such activities. Although not part of the formal curriculum, these programs play a vital role in students’ creative, intellectual, and practical development.
Head of the Department of Architecture and Civil Technology, Madiha Younis, stated that the institute is providing students with international-standard education along with practical skills to help them achieve success globally. Students also described the exhibition as an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents and build confidence.
At the conclusion of the event, a special shield was awarded to the Architecture Department’s social media team for their outstanding performance, making the event even more memorable.
