The World Health Organization has warned that on a tourist cruise ship, a dangerous virus may have been transmitted from one person to another through close contact, resulting in the deaths of 3 individuals.

‎According to the World Health Organization, the incident occurred on a Dutch tourist cruise ship, where so far three passengers have died, while several others have shown symptoms of the disease.

‎The organization stated that the virus is usually spread through animals such as rodents, however in this case there is suspicion that it may have been transmitted among individuals who were in close contact.

‎The ship, which departed from South America a month ago, is currently anchored near the western coast of Africa. A total of 149 people on board, belonging to 23 different countries, have been placed under strict precautionary measures.

‎According to officials, a total of 7 cases of the virus have been reported so far, of which 2 have been confirmed while others are suspected. Among the affected individuals are a woman and a 69 year old British citizen who have been shifted for treatment.

‎Rescue and medical teams have reached the ship, and testing of other passengers and crew members is ongoing. As a precautionary measure, the ship is being disinfected, while those caring for the patients are using full protective gear.

‎Experts from the World Health Organization say that it is possible the virus is being transmitted through multiple routes, particularly due to locations where the ship made stops during its journey and where the presence of rodents is likely.

‎On the other hand, Spanish authorities have indicated that permission for the ship to dock will be granted after reviewing the situation, while passengers have not yet been allowed to disembark.

‎According to a passenger, there is uncertainty on board, however all individuals are waiting for their safety and a safe return.
