ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan military has shot down two Indian fighter jets in response to a series of late-night missile strikes carried out by India on five locations across the country, state media reported on Monday.

 

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Indian strikes targeted Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, and Muzaffarabad shortly after midnight, resulting in the deaths of three Pakistani civilians and injuries to 12 others. ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry condemned the attacks as “cowardly,” confirming that a military response was already underway.

 

The escalation comes in the aftermath of a recent militant attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Kashmir, which has heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

 

State broadcaster PTV News, citing security sources, reported that the Pakistan Air Force responded swiftly, downing two Indian aircraft. “All Pakistani Air Force aircraft remain safe,” the report added. “Pakistan’s armed forces are delivering a strong and proportionate response to Indian aggres
