SAN DIEGO — Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh revealed that her co-star Hunter Schafer suffered a concussion while filming high-octane action sequences for the upcoming highly anticipated series Blade Runner 2099. Speaking at a San Diego Comic-Con panel on Friday, July 24, the Wicked star lauded the 27-year-old Euphoria actress as a “fearless action hero” who fully threw herself into the physical demands of the role, often leaving the veteran action star worried on set.
According to Yeoh, Schafer “literally dove” into the production’s demanding stunts, frequently performing complex tumbles and falls without proper protective gear. “I was almost trying to hold her back,” Yeoh shared during the panel, recounting how she frequently had to check if Schafer was alright and ask where her safety pads were. As a lighthearted response to the real-life concussion and to ensure her co-star’s safety moving forward, Yeoh jokingly gifted Schafer a baby helmet. The duo shared the Comic-Con stage with showrunner Silka Luisa and executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson to discuss the upcoming expansion of the iconic sci-fi franchise.
