Sri Lanka’s women’s team secured a decisive 6-4 series victory over Pakistan on Wednesday, wrapping up the final ODI with a dominant performance that underscored their growing authority in the format. The visitors chased down the target with clinical precision, leaving the hosts searching for answers in a series defined by batting collapses and tactical errors.

The match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium saw Pakistan’s top order struggle early. The batting lineup, which has looked fragile throughout the series, failed to build momentum, ultimately limping to a total that never put the Sri Lankan bowlers under real pressure.

Sri Lanka’s captain, Chamari Athapaththu, remained the central figure of the series. Her ability to anchor the innings while accelerating when necessary proved the difference between the two sides. While Pakistan’s bowling attack showed flashes of discipline, they lacked the sustained intensity required to dismantle a set batter.

“We didn’t execute our plans in the powerplay,” Pakistan captain Nida Dar admitted after the match. “The pitch played differently than we anticipated, but we have to be better at adapting under pressure.”

The defeat marks a significant setback for the Pakistan side, which had hoped to utilize the home conditions to climb the ICC Women’s Championship standings. Instead, the series exposed a lack of depth in the middle order and recurring issues with rotation of strike — a problem that has plagued the side for the better part of two years.

For Sri Lanka, the result is a validation of their recent investment in domestic structures and a clear sign that they are no longer just making up the numbers in international cricket. They controlled the tempo of the final game from the first ball, refusing to allow the Pakistani spinners to settle into a rhythm.

As the squad looks toward the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, the disparity in quality shown over these three matches provides a clear roadmap for the Pakistan Cricket Board. Talent exists, but the gap between domestic performance and international requirements is widening.

The series ends with the visitors celebrating a deserved win, while the hosts are left with a difficult review of their tactical approach and player selection ahead of the next international window.
