ISLAMABAD: Pakistani celebrities have expressed solidarity with the family of Hina Javed following her death in Rawalpindi on August 20, calling for a transparent investigation and justice in the case being investigated as an alleged murder.
Actors including Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Osman Khalid Butt, Iffat Omar and Samar Jafri condemned violence against women and voiced support for Hina’s family.
Hina had married in 2025 and was living at her in-laws’ home. According to reports, she was found hanging from a wire attached to a bathroom shower. Her brother, Fahad, later registered a murder case against her husband, Asghar Imam, her father-in-law and a domestic worker.
The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against the nominated suspects have not been established in court.
Mahira Khan reacted to the case on Instagram, questioning the circumstances surrounding Hina’s death and expressing support for her family. She also conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family and said she could not imagine the pain and loss they were experiencing.
Hania Aamir and Samar Jafri shared posts from the Justice for Hina social media page, which has highlighted allegations made by the family regarding the treatment Hina allegedly faced at the hands of her husband and in-laws.
According to claims shared on the page, Hina was allegedly subjected to violence, isolated and kept in a separate room. These allegations have not been independently verified.
Iffat Omar also called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to take action against violence against women and ensure that the case receives appropriate attention.
Osman Khalid Butt described the reported circumstances surrounding Hina’s death as horrifying and stressed the importance of ensuring that her family does not have to spend years seeking justice through the legal system.
The growing response from Pakistan’s entertainment industry has drawn further public attention to Hina Javed’s case and the broader issue of violence against women.
The investigation and court proceedings will determine the facts and establish responsibility, while Hina’s family and supporters continue to call for a fair and transparent process.
